Artist Bio

My creations are rarely thought out from start to finish. Sometimes, I have one vision and the wood has another. There are no defined templates or models that are used, only rough sketches and perseverance.
I’ve had no formal training in woodworking. When in college in Vermont, my main areas of concentration were photography and sculpture, neither was pursued professionally. Instead I ran the gambit of jobs, from dock worker to salesman. It wasn’t until my late 40's that I decided to follow a path that was always viewed from afar.
Since moving to upstate New York, I am fortunate to have the drive propelled by a serene sense of my surroundings. Having been a city boy most of my life the solitude is a welcomed change. There never seems to be a lack of inspiration, except of course, when my dogs chase the school bus.
If I had to use one word to sum up my work it would be contour.
